Miz does not believe Bryan has the same level of talent as he does at this stage in his career. He believes Bryan needs to continue fighting to earn more respect and refine the skills he potentially lost after being gone for so long. Miz does not need to fight for a match with Bryan, it is Bryan that needs to fight for a match with him. He does believe Bryan will regain those skills. He asks people to think of one great match besides the Greatest Royal Rumble that Bryan has been involved in since returning. He discredits the performance in the Rumble due to the nature of what the match is. It isn’t truly a one vs. one performance.
Miz says people don’t understand the differences people go through to make it to WWE. Referencing the original game-show version of NXT when Miz was the pro to Bryan’s rookie, people said it should have been the other way round. In detail, Miz describes why “indie darlings” don’t always make it in WWE. He helped Bryan get his start in the company with being his pro and dropping the United States Championship to him.
Miz says he has pride in who he is. He makes valid points that people seem to dismiss because he is the “bad guy” and Bryan knows how to generate sympathy.
Miz believes Reigns has the “Cena Syndrome.” He doesn’t need to be a heel, he needs to be himself. He sells the most merchandise and has the biggest reaction, despite what people say.
He acknowledges the hardcore fans believe Reigns is being shoved down their throats but says WWE tries to cater to a number of different audiences. Look at women and children, who love him. Reigns creates a reaction, and if Miz was in control of booking, he wouldn’t change a thing.
Miz doesn’t believe there are good guys and bad guys. Nobody wants that Superhero figure anymore. They want shades of grey, and Reigns is giving fans that. Reigns communicates what he feels, which is what the audience wants in general.
He feels if he is in a match against Reigns and the crowd is cheering him as opposed to the supposed ‘face’ people would still be enjoying the match. It doesn’t matter, so long as people react to him.
Miz put over Shawn Michaels for his effort in The Marine 6. He also said he loved London, as he had to go there around Christmas time and thought it was beautiful. He thinks Michaels also wanted to cut his hair for a long time but was in fear of the response.
If Miz could do anything with WWE right now, he would want to do stadium shows around the world similar to that of the Greatest Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.
