In one of WWE’s most exhilarating cinematic matches to date, Adam Cole beat Velveteen Dream last night to retain the NXT Championship in a Backlot Brawl.
While many fans are choosing to focus on what that’s going to mean for both men moving forward, it seems as if it makes more sense to sit back and appreciate what they were able to produce.
In his immediate reaction to the match, Cole noted that while he got the win, he didn’t leave without a mark or two.
Cole’s historic run with the belt now goes on, with the expectation being that either Keith Lee or Finn Balor will serve as his next challenger.
Either way, this match alone made the event worth a watch – even without all of the other great bouts on the card.
