AEW has signed many people that are considered “indie darlings,” and Danhausen’s name was certainly hot when Tony Khan brought him on board. Despite the fact that Danhausen is still beloved as a very nice and very evil wrestler, he hasn’t been around.

Danhausen’s recent absence from AEW programming has sparked speculation among fans regarding his future with the company. His cryptic social media posts only fueled this speculation.

The former ROH star has not appeared on AEW TV since December of last year, apart from a brief appearance alongside Orange Cassidy during a special Thanksgiving episode of AEW Dynamite. Despite his absence from AEW, Danhausen has remained active on the independent circuit, taking dates on the indies wherever he can. Naturally, there has been a lot of speculation about things.

During Sean Ross Sapp’s Backstage Report podcast on Fightful Select, the subject of Danhausen’s place in AEW came up. It was stated that, “I’ve heard of no plans of him coming back.”

It was reported in May that Danhausen is still under an AEW contract. At this time, however, it doesn’t appear that he will show back up in Tony Khan’s company unless something changes.

Another interesting note that may play into this story is Danhausen’s friendship with CM Punk. This has also added to the mystery behind Danhausen’s disappearance. Even after Punk’s controversial exit from AEW, he actually sent Danhausen a gift of 14 cheeseburgers.
