The Acclaimed Drags Vince McMahon’s WWE Return In During Promo

Vince McMahon ruthlessly maneuvered his way back to WWE, and that didn’t sit well with fans and talent alike. The billionaire reinstated himself and close aides to the Board of Directors in a huge power move. The biggest trash talkers in AEW made a satirical reference to rival WWE and its co-founder Vince McMahon’s move to return himself to the company’s Board of Directors.

The Acclaimed is arguably the most popular tag team in AEW. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens never fail to impress fans with their hilarious antics outside the ring. During a promo with their onscreen mentor and former WWE star Billy Gunn, The Acclaimed mentioned the ongoing controversy.

This Friday on ‘Rampage,’ The Acclaimed is in Hollywood and we’re getting one of the best honors you can get. And we’re going to be among some of the biggest names in showbiz history.

“Platinum Max” then began naming struggling celebrities such as Roseanne Barr, Alec Baldwin, and Donald Trump, seemingly unaware of the well-known scandals surrounding them. Meanwhile, the audience laughed along when Gunn enthusiastically jumped in and suggested Johnny Depp, another troubled Hollywood icon, and Bowens worriedly waived his hands to stop Caster and Gunn from naming off more troublesome celebrities.

What they mean is The Hollywood Walk of Fame Board of Directors have unanimously voted for The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass to receive stars on the walk of fame, so our scissors are going to live in concrete forever because everyone loves The Acclaimed!

Bowens was referring to WWE’s announcement this week that its board of directors “unanimously” voted in support of re-electing McMahon as Executive Chairman. McMahon’s brief retirement from professional wrestling was ended by WWE’s announcement.

McMahon resigned in July following reports that he paid over $20 million in hush money to multiple women with whom he had romances or allegedly made unwelcome attempts. His absence from the company he founded lasted less than six months. You can check out The Acclaimed’s promo video below.

Adam Cole made his AEW return on Wednesday’s Dynamite, where he cut a promo. This was his first appearance in months, following concussion difficulties. Cole began by stating that he had both good and terrible news. A photo of Cole recently surfaced where AEW was trying to sneak him into Dynamite before his return.

Click here for our complete coverage of AEW Dynamite this week.

During his return promo, Adam Cole explained his rehabilitation and how bad his situation was. Then he said that the bad news was for the AEW locker room.

AEW wanted to keep the return a secret, so they went out of their way to keep it that way. They’ve been known to go to the extremes at times.

A “TBD promo” piece was placed on the internal run sheet after Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page. It was Cole’s segment, but nobody knew it. In addition, to ensure that no fans saw him arrive, Cole hid in the rear of a car to get into the arena, where he was trapped between the front and back seats on the floor.

Chauffer Boz tweeted out a photo of Adam Cole hiding in his backseat, complete with a pulled-up hoodie and sunglasses. The caption illustrated the photo perfectly.

When you need to sneak

@AdamColePro to #AEWDynamite, you do it by any means necessary

Adam Cole was most likely hiding in a hotel, back room, or a bus prior to Dynamite, because he wasn’t seen before the show. WWE and AEW have done similar acts in the past to keep returns hidden, and it always adds to the surprise. You can check out the tweet below.
