Goldberg is finally closing in on his long-teased retirement match—and now, the WWE Hall of Famer has confirmed that the wheels are officially in motion.
During an interview with My San Antonio, Goldberg gave fans a meaningful update: not only has he signed off on some of the creative leading into his final match, but he also revealed a major clue about where it will take place.
“It’s going to be in the South,” Goldberg said with a knowing smile. “This gives me the opportunity to put a stamp on my career in front of the people I care the most about.”
That revelation effectively rules out SummerSlam, which is scheduled for New Jersey, and suggests WWE is planning a major southern event before the end of 2025 to honor the legendary powerhouse’s final run.
Goldberg has been actively working to get himself physically prepared for his in-ring farewell. During a recent episode of Carcast, he gave an encouraging health update, revealing he’s training again and taking a calculated approach to his recovery.
“I feel a little bit better, I’ve gained a little bit of weight man. Done a little kickboxing on the weekends. I’m getting there man, I’ve got a little bit of time left. Slowly but surely, Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
He also confirmed that he’s currently injury-free—a major step forward after previous shoulder issues that had sidelined him for over a year.
“Believe me, it’s been really tough to control myself but I think I’m on a good schedule. I’m injury free as of right now.”
When speaking about his shoulder rehab, Goldberg compared the process to restoring a classic car.
“Much better. I mean, geez, I can do things with it — I couldn’t do anything with it in December. It’s one of those things — it’s like rebuilding a car. You’ve got to strip it down to the bare minimum and sequentially build it in a logical form. It applies with a vehicle, it applies with your body. I can’t get overzealous and put shit on before it’s time. It’s a very slow process but I think the way I’m going about it is hopefully gonna work.”
Though the exact opponent and venue are still under wraps, all signs are pointing toward a major send-off in Goldberg’s home region. With GUNTHER’s name swirling as a potential opponent, WWE fans will be watching closely as 2025 progresses.
