Rhino has been a fixture in pro wrestling for decades, from ECW to WWE, TNA, and the independent scene. But even after all these years, he admits the love from fans is often bigger than what he’s actually booked to do on TV.
During an interview with The Wrestling Classic, Rhino opened up about how he’s still getting massive crowd reactions — even though he’s not always part of major storylines. He credited the fans for keeping his name alive and even revealed that people within WWE have taken notice of the disconnect.
“Everywhere I go, the fans are like overwhelmingly… and they’ve been like that for a long time, and it just… it seems like it’s getting bigger and bigger, you know. And Scott’s even said, ‘Cause he knows people in the office, like people would… like in WWE, he gets an overwhelming response and he’s not in any major angles, you know? His response is disproportionate to the push he’s getting — like overly, you know, the overly response.”
Rhino didn’t throw direct shots at any company, but it’s not hard to read between the lines. His comments reflect a reality plenty of veteran stars face — where the fan support is undeniable, but the booking doesn’t always follow.
It’s a situation that’s played out with countless talents over the years, both in WWE and AEW. Despite fan reactions that prove their value, certain names often find themselves underutilized or sidelined altogether.
Rhino, known for his no-nonsense approach and genuine connection to the audience, clearly isn’t bitter. But his words speak to a larger issue in wrestling where organic reactions sometimes clash with corporate plans.
