Shawn Michaels still has a lot of power in WWE creative as part of NXT, but there was a time when he was a main even talent for Vince McMahon. That also came with a lot of backstage political clout.

The Kliq were a notable backstage force in WWE during their day. Shawn Michaels, Triple H, X-Pac, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were four of the most notable members of the faction. That being said, Shawn Michaels could also put in a word for Vince McMahon’s ear as well.

Ahmed Johnson recently spoke with WrestlingNews.co, where he opened up about various aspects of his wrestling journey. During the interview, Johnson talked about the pivotal moment of being signed by WWE and the unforgettable call he received from none other than Vince McMahon himself. It was a turning point in his career that he will always cherish.

As the discussion delved deeper, Ahmed Johnson recounted his run in WWE and the aspirations he had to become a World Champion. However, he shed light on the hurdles and circumstances that derailed those plans, ultimately altering the trajectory of his career within the company.

“I believe Vince had a change of mind. All the junk that Shawn Michaels and some of the other boys put in his (Vince’s) head, you know, ‘They’re not ready for a black champion’, but you’re just seen me win the Intercontinental belt, so you know I’m ready. You know the fans are already. But Shawn Michaels man, he kind of ran the coop back then. He was like the head dog back then, so whatever he says, you know, kind of went. I remember him calling me to the office one day after maybe my third match, and he tells me, ‘Ahmed, I can’t let you do them high flying moves anymore’. I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ You ain’t let me do nothing first of all. I’ll do it if I want to do it.’ He said, ‘Well, what happens is when I do it at 190 pounds and you come do it at 355 pounds, it doesn’t look as great when I do it.’”

Ahmed Johnson has a lot to say about his time in WWE. He also allegedly left the company as they wanted him to do a lynching angle. That was apparently enough for him, and he did not stick around for more creative ideas.

We will have to see what comes out about Shawn Michaels next. After all, his name is always in the headlines. As of this writing, HBK has not commented on this story about Ahmed Johnson.
