Wrestling legend Jacques Rougeau started his professional wrestling career in 1977 and has since competed for companies including Stampede Wrestling, WWE, and WCW. Early on, he and his brother Raymond Rougeau formed The Fabulous Rougeau; later, he went by the name The Mountie. For tonight’s AEW Dynamite, the iconic Jacques Rougeau appeared backstage at the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Rougeau lives in Canada, as mentioned by PWInsider, but it was later confirmed on Facebook that he is there with pupils from his Lutte Academie wrestling school in Montreal. In the post below, Rougeau mentioned on Facebook earlier this week that all four champions from the Lutte Academie 2022 camp were representing Canada at The Nightmare Factory in Atlanta.
The wrestlers in question are Jeremy Prophet and his wife Jessica Leary, Matt Black, and Dylan Davis. Before Dynamite went on the air, Rougeau’s four pupils helped with tonight’s “Dark: Elevation” tapings. The first bout included Prophet and Leary taking on Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford, the second featured Black taking on Frankie Kazarian, and the third featured Davis teaming up with Junior Benito to take on Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh.
Chantal Roy and Jesse V, two further stars from Rougeau’s school, were also recruited to Dynamite. Rougeau’s school posted on Facebook that the kids who will be flown to Atlanta and returning to Toronto for tonight’s tapings were chosen by AEW Producer and Nightmare Factory co-owner/trainer QT Marshall. Additionally, it was mentioned that the wrestlers will work Thursday’s AEW Rampage and Dark tapings, which will also be held at the Toronto Coca-Cola Coliseum.
Rougeau collaborated as The Quebecers with PCO. He has won the WWE Tag Team Championship three times and the WWE Intercontinental Championship once. In 2018, Rougeau announced his third retirement, joining forces for the first and only time with his sons. He also disbanded his first wrestling school, founded in 1998 in Montreal, in 2018. He currently serves as the director of the Lutte Academie, which was founded not long after. Check out the posts below.
