WWE has officially responded to the passing of Hulk Hogan, releasing a public statement just moments ago expressing their sorrow over the loss of one of the industry’s biggest icons.

In a message posted to social media, WWE wrote that they are “saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away.” The company recognized Hogan’s lasting cultural impact, adding that he was “one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures” and someone who “helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s.”

The statement ended with WWE extending its condolences to “Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”

Hogan’s death was reported earlier today following a cardiac emergency at his Clearwater, Florida home. He was 71 years old. WWE’s quick acknowledgment reflects the massive legacy Hogan leaves behind — both within the wrestling business and far beyond it.
