WWE had serious plans in place for Jakara Jackson before her release last month—including a potential run on the main roster and a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title push alongside Lash Legend.

According to Fightful Select, internal pitches had the duo moving up from NXT, with some ideas involving them capturing championship gold.

Creative within NXT was quietly adjusted once word spread internally that Jackson would be let go, which is why the team was split in the weeks leading up to the cuts. The move still came as a surprise to many behind the scenes, especially given how recently those pitches were being discussed.

Despite those long-term plans, WWE ultimately chose not to renew Jackson’s contract. She is now a free agent and has already begun promoting her new persona, Mara Sadè, outside the company.

Since her release, Jackson has rebranded herself as Mara Sadè, debuting a new look and attitude in a self-produced hype video. The transformation marks a fresh start as she prepares to take independent bookings beginning June 1st.
