WWE RAW Takes a Trip to 1996 with “Rocky Sucks” Chants

The wrestling world has experienced a major shift in tide in the last 72 hours, with Cody Rhodes at the helm of things but Monday Night RAW was the icing on the cake in regards to fans making it clear what they felt about The Rock’s involvement in the WrestleMania 40 plans.

WWE RAW opened with a confrontation between World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. The Drip God acknowledged the events in the last three days and asked Rhodes for an answer in regards to the WrestleMania challenge laid out.

Moreover, he stood by his words from last week that Cody should pick him for a world title match at The Show of Shows. Amidst the segment, it was 1996 all over as the fans began to chant “Rocky sucks.”

This was the first time in a long time that the people turned on their People’s Champion, reminded of the time when The Rock made his WWE debut. At the time, he was Rocky Maivia, a character that the fans were not behind and believed was a corporately created entity that did not seem appealing.

With the ‘We Want Cody’ movement in full force on RAW tonight, WWE surely has a lot of reconsideration to do in regards to the main event for WrestleMania 40.

WWE Releases Footage of Cody Rhodes Getting Attacked Backstage at WWE Live Event

This week has certainly not been in favor of The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes. After potentially losing his WrestleMania spotlight to a part-time star attraction, Rhodes found himself on the receiving end of a sneak attack at a recent WWE live event.

WWE held its live show in Knoxville this weekend with the Prodigal Son being a part of the main event. He battled his former arch-nemesis Shinsuke Nakamura in a street fight and emerged victorious.

However, Nakamura was not going to let the night end with his lasting image of defeat. In a recent footage released by WWE, Cody Rhodes found himself as the prey of a sneak attack.

As Cody made his way toward the backstage area, Shinsuke awaited Cody and launched his red mist on his face as soon as he saw him in sight. The former WWE Intercontinental champion was about to inflict more damage before an official came to break things.

“Last night at #WWEKnoxville, @americannightmarecody was attacked backstage by @shinsukenakamura.”

WWE has already derailed Cody Rhodes’ plans to battle Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal championship at WrestleMania 40, in favor of positioning The Rock in the mix.

The attack could potentially be a way to divert the audience’s attention, who are showing constant support for The American Nightmare to headline WrestleMania against The Tribal Chief and finish the story.

Jade Cargill Knew She Would Eliminate Both Becky Lynch & Naomi Prior to Royal Rumble Match

WWE has been blown away with the arrival of a huge Storm and her name is Jade Cargill. The former AEW star recently made her WWE debut at the 2024 Royal Rumble event and revealed an intriguing detail regarding her first in-ring appearance for the global juggernaut.

Jade Cargill signed with WWE in September 2023, following a remarkable run in Tony Khan’s AEW with a year-long run as the TBS Women’s champion. She made a few appearances on every WWE brand, before her official debut.

She came out as a surprise entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match at #28 to a thunderous ovation by the WWE Universe. Displaying an excellent showing, Cargill managed to score 3 eliminations, tossing out stars like Naomi and Becky Lynch over the top rope.

In a recent clip released by WWE on Instagram, Jade talks about spoke about the two women she eliminated. The former AEW star mentioned that she looked up to Naomi when she entered the business and commanded a high level of respect for the work Becky Lynch did to pave the way for the Women’s Revolution.

“Naomi is somebody I look up to … you know, I watched her wrestling when I first got into the business, it felt amazing and the fact that Becky Lynch has been killing things for years … to go out there and eliminate those two … it was something I knew I was going to do.”

With an impressive start to her WWE career, it would be interesting to see how things pan out for Jade Cargill as she is yet to sign with one of WWE’s television brands.
