The NXT North American Title is a championship that many would love to fight for. At Halloween Havoc, they saw a bloody war for that piece of hardware.
NXT Halloween Havoc went down tonight at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona. This was a packed card for WWE’s developmental brand, and Ethan Page was on hand to put his title on the line against a very worthy opponent.
At Worlds Collide: Las Vegas, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. retained his title in a match with Ethan Page. This led to a rivalry between the two, and shots were fired practically every week. After Page’s title defense at No Mercy, Wagner Jr. challenged him. Eventually, they confirmed a match for the NXT North American Championship at Halloween Havoc, set as a Day of the Dead match.
This contest went on second of the night, and it was the first title match of the night. They put the lights down to give this Day of the Dead match a bit of a different look, but it was practically an extreme rules match.
Ethan Page took some early offense, and many of those moves included a weapon. However, Page was able to take control of the match with his ruthless tactics. The action soon spilled outside the ring, where they used anything they could get their hands on as a weapon to dismantle their opponent.
Page was busted open during the brawl, and then he returned to the ring to wedge chairs in two turnbuckles. He hit Wagner with a third chair across the back and stalked his opponent to continue the assault as he threw him into both chairs in the turnbuckles.
Ethan Page started tearing at Wagner’s mask next, and he nearly ripped the whole thing off. Wagner wasn’t happy about this at all, and he got up looking furious. At that point, Wagner started to hulk up big time. Wagner eventually nailed a coast to coast through a trashcan for a near fall.
Page ripped at his mask one more time, sent him through another chair in the corner, and hit an Ego’s Edge through a trashcan for another near fall. This match kept going, and Page kept kicking out of everything Wagner gave him. They fought on the top rope under a table, and then Page turned Wagner’s mask around so he couldn’t see, threw chalk in his face, and then he nailed a Twisted Grin through the table to retain his title.
