While speaking at a baseball game, the Olympian-turned-WWE Superstar casually confirmed what fans have speculated for months—that he was the man behind the mask as El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41. Although WWE never officially addressed it on TV, Gable’s words were enough to connect the dots. He brought up a personal milestone while reflecting on his WWE career:

“So back in April I had my first singles match at WrestleMania. So in WWE terms, that’s like the be-all and end-all show, right? So that was kind of a crowning moment so far in my WWE career.”

The problem? Chad Gable wasn’t listed in any singles match at WrestleMania 41—unless, of course, he was under a mask. That match saw El Grande Americano take on Rey Fenix in a surprise bout, and Gable’s slip-up all but confirms he was under the mask the entire time.

Gable is currently sidelined following shoulder surgery, which explains why Ludwig Kaiser has been filling the Americano role on WWE programming. Kaiser even adopted the masked persona in Gable’s absence—though WWE has never openly acknowledged who originally played the role.

Now that Gable has essentially confirmed it himself, fans are wondering if WWE will address the reveal once he’s medically cleared to return.

Chad Gable isn’t letting a serious shoulder injury keep him on the sidelines creatively. The WWE star, who recently underwent surgery after suffering a legitimate shoulder injury, just gave fans another major update — and it’s all about his new project outside the ring.

While Gable is expected to be out of action for at least six months, he’s already finding ways to channel his energy. On July 4th, the former Tag Team Champion took to Instagram and revealed he’s reigniting an old passion for filmmaking and editing.

“Rekindling my love for filmmaking/editing and working on a little personal project to share with all of you,” Gable shared at the time. “I’ll drop more details soon, but as for today, Happy 4th of July! Enjoy your friends, family, and freedom!”

But now, fans are getting their first real look at what Gable’s been cooking up.

On July 6th, Gable took to Instagram again and dropped a major tease for what he’s calling “The Renewal,” a documentary project chronicling his injury, surgery, and recovery process.

“Short preview clip of a project I’ve been working on documenting the injury/surgery/recovery,” Gable wrote. “Calling it ‘The Renewal.’ Looking to get the first full piece up for viewing tomorrow.”

The Olympian-turned-WWE star didn’t stop there. He’s also inviting fans to help shape the project as it unfolds.

“While I continue to work on this stuff, let me know in the comments what kinds of things you would find value in me documenting during the journey,” Gable explained. “It’s going to be a passion project and I’m sure very uncomfortable at times (already has been haha), but that’ll make it worth it. Let me know! Let’s collaborate!”

Attached to the post was a short video preview giving fans a raw glimpse of Gable’s recovery process, sparking curiosity about what’s next for the WWE star.

With his wrestling future temporarily on hold, Gable’s turning his injury into an opportunity for creativity — and possibly inspiring others going through tough times.

Chad Gable suffered a legitimate shoulder injury recently and it was obvious he needed surgery for the same. Fans wondered when he’d go under the knife and as it turns out, he just underwent successful surgery.

Chad Gable took to his Instagram and uploaded a video and photo of himself at the hospital, where he made it clear he had successful surgery, saying, “What’s up dudes? I made it.” Gable then promised that he would be back quicker than anyone can say gracias, saying, “I’ll be back quicker than you can say GRACIAS!”

This comes after Chad Gable made an appearance during the June 30, 2025 episode of Monday Night RAW, where he apologized to American Made for the injury and this segment explained why Gable would have to be absent going forward.

WWE brought quite a show for their March 3 episode. They had a lot to get into, including an update on Chad Gable. He’s been gone for a few weeks as he searches out the remedy for his luchador issues, and now he apparently has that solution.

Chad Gable was shown, somewhere in Mexico, walking up the street. He had a photo in his hand, asking people on the street if they’ve seen the person in the photograph. Finally, he found whoever he was looking for.

Finally, Gable approached a shadowed figure behind a building. Gable confirmed that this was the man who could help him beat the luchadors, and then the old mysterious man extended a cardboard box.

After Chad Gable shelled over some money, the old man gave Chad Gable the box. The segment ended just as Gable reached into the box to pull out whatever was inside.

We will have to keep a close eye on Chad Gable’s storyline at this point. He has been absent from television, but he is still very much a part of the storylines.
