Kurt Angle is credited as one of the most decorated in-ring athletes who made his name in the industry with grit, passion, and perseverance. Recently, Kurt decided to take a trip down memory lane, reflecting on one of the first major wins of his life.
The former WWE champion took to his X to drop a photo of the day he won his first and only state championship in high school 37 years ago.
Kurt also mentioned that at the time of his first victory, he had never imagined that he would go on to win his first-ever Olympic gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games, nine years after that day, and concluded by inspiring people to never give up on their dreams.
“37 years ago…. My first and only time I won a state championship in high school. Only if my younger self knew I would win an Olympic gold medal just 9 years later. Never stop believing. Dreams do come true. Believe!!!!!”
Of course, Angle did just what he mentioned and won the Olympic Games with, as he likes to quote ‘a broken freakin neck.’ The historic win led him to the world of sports entertainment, signing with WWE in 1999.
He went on to become a marquee attraction for the global juggernaut and carved out an illustrious resume of huge championship wins and accolades. Furthermore, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2017.
While Kurt Angle has not been seen on WWE television programming for over a year, it would be interesting to see the Olympic Hero return to the company in some capacity in the future.
