John Cena Attacks R-Truth With Attitude Adjustment During WWE Backlash Press Conference

WWE’s 2025 Backlash event went down in Saint Louis’ Enterprise Arena. John Cena retained his title in controversial fashion, but that wasn’t all she wrote for him in Saint Louis.

John Cena won his match against Randy Orton at WWE Backlash. This was thanks to R-Truth, who stopped Orton from punting him.

John Cena trolled the press after his WrestleMania 41 victory. Then he came out after Backlash during the press conference, where he stated that he has re-thought how he treats the press.

Cena decided to open the flood up for questions, and he said he would answer everyone’s question in the room. Then he was asked if there was any conversation with Randy Orton backstage at the event.

This is when R-Truth came out to talk to John Cena. He told Cena that he’s still the greatest, even though people say he can’t wrestle. This upset Cena, and he told Truth not to say another word, or things wouldn’t be pretty.

That is when R-Truth opened his mouth one more time. Suddenly, John Cena picked R-Truth up and hit an Attitude Adjustment through the title. This was the end of Cena’s time at the press conference, as he simply walked off after that with R-Truth laid out on the stage.

We will have to see what is next to talk about for John Cena as he continues his 17th World Title reign. Only time will tell if R-Truth will still see him as his childhood hero after this.

John Cena Uses Dirty Tactics to Beat Randy Orton at Backlash

John Cena Uses Dirty Tactics to Beat Randy Orton at Backlash

WWE Backlash 2025 went down in the Enterprise Arena in Saint Louis tonight, and it was quite a show in front of a sold-out crowd. There were only five matches on the card, but each one of them held importance, especially the main event.

John Cena shocked the pro wrestling world during WrestleMania 41 when he won the Undisputed World Title from Cody Rhodes. Then Randy Orton stepped up to stake his claim as next in line to face Cena, which set up their Backlash confrontation.

This match went down as the main event of the night, right after Pat McAfee suffered a brutal defeat at the hands of GUNTHER. This was expected, as Saint Louis fans showed up in droves to see the Apex Predator take on the 17-time WWE World Champion.

Orton’s entrance registered a max of 115 bBA on the xfinity live & loud meter. Fans sang along with every word of his song as well. The match also received a big fight feel thanks to the ring introductions by Alicia Taylor.

After fans died down a bit and the match got started, “you can’t wrestle/yes he can” chants started in the crowd. Eventually, John Cena started to lose, so he went to walk off. Orton chased him up the entrance ramp and beat him back to the ring.

This match continued, and John Cena was able to take control after a sleeper hold. Fans chanted for Randy as he turned things around to get his own chinlock applied. Then Cena traded it for a lock of his own, which Orton got on, and then Cena got one on before Orton suplex Cena to separate them.

Cena nailed a 5 Knuckle Shuffle, but then Orton took control. John Cena stepped out of a draping DDT, and then he got an STFU locked in. Then Orton got his draping DDT as Cena sold in the ring. The match continued as they drew fans in.

Randy Orton kicked out after an AA from John Cena, and fans chanted “let’s go Cena/Cena sucks.” Randy grabbed the ropes to get out of an AA, and then Orton hit an RKO outta nowhere, but Cena rolled under the ropes.

John Cena avoided a punt from Randy Orton and he nailed another AA for a two count. Cena missed a punt of his own, and then Orton tried for an RKO, but the official took a bump. Cena nailed a third Attitude Adjustment, but there was no referee to make the pin. That is when John Cena motioned for fans to “shhhh” as he went to retrieve his title. He got in the ring with his title in tow, but he ate an RKO outta nowhere. Orton pinned Cena, but he kicked out at two.

Randy Orton started clearing off the announce table after that. The referee tried to talk Orton out of it, but then Cena shoved Orton into the referee, who nailed his head off the steps. Then Cena tried to get Orton on the table, but Orton nailed an AA on Cena onto the table instead, and then it broke. You could read Orton’s lips to see him say, “stupid f*cking table.”

Randy Orton got a table from under the ring, and fans were very happy to see this. Then Orton put Cena through that table with an AA and it broke. Orton took a drink of Prime from the cart at ringside after that. Still, there was no referee to make any pinfall. That didn’t stop Orton from hitting another RKO in the middle of the ring and make a pin just as another referee ran down to make a two count.

John Cena still had the title in his hand and he ran to hit Orton, but Randy ducked as the 17-time champion nailed the second referee. Orton nailed another RKO and pinned Cena as Nick Aldis ran down to check on the second referee. Then Orton nailed Aldis and every other WWE official with RKOs. This was a literal RKO party as bodies laid all over the ring thanks to Randy Orton. That didn’t help Orton win, but then he geared up to nail Cena with a punt to the head.

Suddenly, R-Truth came in to stop Orton, but he ate an RKO instead. Cena hit a low blow on Orton after that and then Cena grabbed his title once again and geared up to nail him, which he did. Then Cena pinned Orton as the first referee crawled in the ring for the pinfall.

John Cena retained in Saint Louis, and nobody was happy about that. Still, the main event of Backlash was absolute chaos. After the match was over, Cena told them to cut off the music. He said he doesn’t need music, he needs competition, and he sure doesn’t need the fans. He told Saint Louis to “drink it in,” because “this is what the last real champion looks like.” This is how WWE Backlash ended in The Lou as fans booed the end result of the main event.

Pat McAfee Suffers Crushing Defeat to GUNTHER at WWE Backlash

Pat McAfee Suffers Crushing Defeat to GUNTHER at WWE Backlash

At WWE Backlash, Pat McAfee faced GUNTHER in a singles match. This added another notch in the former NFL punter’s belt as he took on the Ring General.

The conflict started on the Raw after WrestleMania 41 during a segment with the commentary team. This also had quite a violent beginning.

GUNTHER appeared at ringside and confronted Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. He was claiming they had shown him disrespect after his WrestleMania loss. The situation escalated when GUNTHER attacked Cole. McAfee stepped in to defend Cole, but GUNTHER overpowered him and choked him out.

Following the attack, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce fined and suspended GUNTHER. The next week, McAfee asked SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who was filling in for Pearce, to lift the suspension so he could fight the former WWE World Champion.

This match went down after the IC Title match, where El Grande Americano helped Dirty Dominik Mysterio retain his title. McAfee received a good response from the Saint Louis crowd, but none of those cheers could save him from GUNTHER. Michael Cole previously stated that he would be biased during this match as well, and he meant it as he lambasted GUNTHER.

Fans chanted “you tapped out” at GUNTHER as the match got started. Then, the moment they locked up, GUNTHER slung McAfee across the ring. Over 17,000 fans chanted for Pat McAfee as he got a headlock on GUNTHER. Then GUNTHER let Pat go to mock him after he switched things up.

Eventually, GUNTHER chopped McAfee down to slow things to his pace. McAfee nailed a few punches and a chop, but GUNTHER just wanted more, so Pat gave him a few more, but then GUNTHER fired back with a stiff chop to take Pat down. That was followed by a few brutal chops that took the former NFL punter down.

Michael Cole told GUNTHER to pin McAfee and get the match over with, but he didn’t. Instead, GUNTHER whipped McAfee back into the ropes for a shoulder tackle. McAfee tried to come back with a kick to the spine, but GUNTHER no-sold it to turn things around for a kick of his own. This was followed by another chopping exchange that GUNTHER won.

GUNTHER got on a sleeper hold, but Pat McAfee got out of it. So, GUNTHER nailed another German Suplex. Michael Cole wasn’t happy at all as the brutality continued.

Pat McAfee landed on his feet after German Suplex, and he kicked GUNTHER to phase him. Then he nailed a slam for a one-count pinfall attempt. GUNTHER invited McAfee to chop him more, but every time GUNTHER returned fire. McAfee landed two kicks to the head, but then GUNTHER nailed a powerbomb as Michael Cole screamed to “end the match!”

Finally, GUNTHER locked on a Boston Crab onto Pat McAfee. Michael Cole got up and went to ringside, but McAfee couldn’t get to the ropes. Then GUNTHER dragged Pat back in and applied a few elbows to the side of his head before he pulled Michael Cole into the ring.

Cole fought GUNTHER off until McAfee kicked him just as GUNTHER was about to powerbomb Cole. Pat got a two count roll-up pin on GUNTHER as he went to the apron to take a suplex back in, and Cole held GUNTHER’s legs to help him not kick out, but GUNTHER did kick out. He wasn’t happy at all. Pat tried to get a sleeper on GUNTHER after that, but he just kicked his head off and locked on a sleeper hold until the referee called for the bell. After the match was over, Pat McAfee got to his feet and had a stare-down with GUNTHER. Then GUNTHER tipped his proverbial hat at McAfee before he left to show respect.

This was quite a display from Pat McAfee and GUNTHER. He took an incredible beating, after all. Only time will tell what is next for him in WWE, and the same goes for GUNTHER.

What’s your take on Pat McAfee’s latest match in WWE? Doyou want to see him wrestle more often? Let us know what you think in the comments section!

The Intercontinental Championship match between Dominik Mysterio and Penta threw down at WWE Backlash 2025. This match followed up on everything that started at WrestleMania 41.

At Night 2 of WrestleMania 41, Dominik Mysterio won the Intercontinental Championship in a fatal four-way match that included Penta and Finn Bálor. Mysterio pinned Bálor to win the title in that match. The two continued their back and forth, which resulted in an IC Title singles match for Penta and Dominik.

This match went on third in the night, right after Lyra Valkyria was able to retain the WWE Women’s IC Title over Becky Lynch. Fans in Saint Louis were more than ready to see these two throw down in the home of the Blues. Penta also wore all blue for the occasion.

This match got started with Dominik Mysterio taking the quick advantage. Penta sold for him for a while as he got fans to boo him heavily. Eventually, Penta was able to take control after he nailed a high-risk move to the outside.

The match continued in the ring, with Penta eating an Oblivion, Liv Morgan’s finisher, but it only got a near fall. This was an homage to Liv Morgan as she’s out filming a movie. Then Penta nailed a Mexican Destroyer on the ring apron before Carlito made his way to ringside.

Finn Balor and JD McDonagh jumped over the barricade as Carlito distracted them. Then Finn got caught with a chair as the referee ejected them all from ringside. Then Penta nailed a dive over the referee onto Dirty Dom. Finn Balor distracted the referee as El Grande Americano jumped on the other side and pushed Penta off the top rope. Then Dominik was able to win the match to retain the IC Title.

We will keep an eye on the IC Title picture, because there is no shortage of worthy challengers for the championship. There is a lot of history with that title belt as well, and many people on the roster would love to have their names included with that list of greats.

What’s your take on the IC Title picture? Do you think that Penta is getting the booking he deserves in WWE so far? Let us know what you think in the comments section!

At WrestleMania 41, Jacob Fatu won the United States Championship by defeating LA Knight. Also, Drew McIntyre beat Damian Priest the next night at the showcase of the immortals. This set off a four-way storyline for the United States Title.

The United States Championship match at Backlash was officially set eventually with Jacob Fatu vs. LA Knight vs. Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre. This came after weeks of the four going at it, and then Nick Aldis finally booked the contest.

This match kicked off Backlash, and fans were ready to see the four of them go down. LA Knight, Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, and Jacob Fatu all received full entrances as they made their way to the ring. Fans were ready to see brutality, and they filled the Blues home arena with chants of “we want tables” as the four men battled on.

Fans were chanting “this is awesome” as Jacob Fatu climbed the top rope. Then Drew McIntyre met him up top by raking his eyes. That turned into a trickier situation as LA Knight dragged Drew into a tree of woe for a beating. Then Knight climbed up top, but he was tossed off before Drew nailed a German suplex on Fatu onto Knight. Then Fatu sprung up to nail a dive to the outside and a swanton onto McMahon. There were moves all over the place as the all ended up in a stalemate on the mat.

After this high-impact match continued, it looked like LA Knight was going to seize the moment and pull off a win. He nailed a couple elbows onto Fatu, but it only resulted in a near fall. Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre ended up outside the ring, fighting on top of a production crate. Then Priest nailed a South of Heaven off the crate through a table that took both of them out. Fans in Saint Louis chanted “holy sh*t” as the match continued.

Solo Sikoa showed up to save Fatu as he pulled him off a table while LA Knight prepared to leap on him. Suddenly, Jeff Cobb jumped over the barricade as he blindsided LA Knight. After that, Jacob Fatu didn’t look happy about Cobb helping them, but he still won the match after a moonsault.

Jeff Cobb took out LA Knight and made his presence known. It took Cobb years to make his way to WWE, but he finally found his home with Solo Sikoa. We will have to see what is next for this storyline. It certainly looks like the Bloodline saga is going to continue with a new face.
